Our Practice & Core Values
For over 30 years The Eyecare Center has provided quality and state-of-the-art eye care to patients of all ages in East Idaho.
From the beginning we have been proud to help friends, family, neighbors and new patients achieve better quality of life with the most recent advancements and fashions in optometry.
Our practice was started by Dr. Marshall Merrell and has grown to include all of our fantastic staff in our two locations, Rexburg and Idaho Falls.
Dr. Merrell has since passed the reins to Dr. Melanie Clark, who shares his passion for exceptional, personalized care and continues a legacy of serving our community with warmth and excellence.

Meet Dr. Melanie D. Clark
Dr. Melanie D. Clark has been caring for patients in the Idaho Falls area for over 12 years. She loves getting to know the individuals and families she serves and helping each person see their best.
Dr. Clark provides a full range of eye care — from routine vision exams to advanced contact lens fittings, prosthetic eye care, disease management, and emergency or trauma care. She also co-manages LASIK and cataract surgery before and after the procedure. Dr. Clark is certified in Orthokeratology, or corneal reshaping therapy — a non-surgical way to improve vision without glasses or daytime contact lenses. She especially enjoys working with patients who need specialty lenses, including custom scleral contacts designed for comfort and clarity.
Originally from Rigby, Idaho, Dr. Clark was inspired to become an optometrist after experiencing firsthand how life-changing a simple pair of glasses could be. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Idaho State University and went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University — where she proudly became a Buckeye!
While at Ohio State, she also had the opportunity to travel to several countries providing free eye exams and glasses to those in need — an experience that deepened her passion for helping others through vision care.
Dr. Clark believes in delivering compassionate, high-quality care and taking the time to educate patients so they feel confident and informed about their eye health.
When she’s not in the office, Dr. Clark enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids. She loves hiking, camping, fly fishing, gardening, and traveling the world whenever she gets the chance.

Yvonne
With more than 25 years of experience in the optical field, Yvonne brings exceptional expertise and genuine care to everything she does. As a certified optician, she has helped countless patients find the perfect eyewear to fit their vision needs, lifestyle, and personal style.
Yvonne takes pride in getting to know each patient, understanding what matters most to them, and ensuring they have an outstanding experience from start to finish.
Now, as our office administrator, she combines her deep optical knowledge with her natural leadership and organization skills to help our practice run smoothly every day.
Her friendly personality, attention to detail, and dedication to patient care make her an invaluable part of our team.
Outside the office, Yvonne enjoys spending time with her husband and their boys. She loves reading, exploring the outdoors, and appreciating the beauty of nature.
