Our Practice & Core Values
For over 30 years The Eyecare Center has provided quality and state-of-the-art eye care to patients of all ages in East Idaho. From the beginning we have been proud to help friends, family, neighbors and new patients achieve better quality of life with the most recent advancements and fashions in optometry. Our practice was started by Dr. Marshall Merrell and has grown to include all of our fantastic staff in our two locations, Rexburg and Idaho Falls. As time has passed we’ve grown with these communities and we look forward to serving you. We invite you to learn about us and make an appointment to come see us soon.
Meet Dr. Marshall Merrell
Marshall started this journey by being born to parents Glade and Irene and was raised in Oklahoma and Idaho. As a kid, he grew to love sports and competed at high levels. He also enjoyed farming as a teenager, something he still enjoys doing with his family today!
Marshall was a missionary in Ohio. He and his wife Jan, along with their son Jason, went to Pacific University in Oregon for 4 years. This is where their second child, Marci, was born. They have fond memories of working their way through school and driving home through the nights to be with family on holidays. One such all-nighter Jason woke up just as the sun was coming up and as they were arriving in Rexburg, and asked: “who stole all the trees?!”
Their other 3 children, Mariah, McKenzie, and Jarom, were all born in Rexburg. They have worked tirelessly, building a family practice to serve you and yours. Marshall and Jan have built the practices around providing the latest diagnostic equipment and materials; they believe you are worth it! Their hope is that our two new locations will conveniently serve you for generations to come!

Jan
Jan has been with The Eyecare Center since the beginning! They have worked hard, making their offices and practice a place where their patients and friends want to be. Jan enjoys helping you as you come in, whether it is at the front desk, with billing questions or in the optical area. When she’s not in the office, she enjoys being with her kids and grandkids, reading, and doing an assortment of projects.
Lisa
Lisa joined the Merrell Team in early 2015 and loves the opportunities that working in the Idaho Falls Office provides. Lisa was born and raised in Southern California and loves the beach and warm weather. She and her husband enjoy road trips and traveling, playing tennis, and time spent with their children.
Kim
Kim has worked for The Eyecare Center since 2000. She has done pretesting, billing, and front desk. She is currently working in optical and loving it. Kim loves the eye care industry and enjoys getting to know the patients. Kim enjoys spending time with her husband Mike and their three children.
